The Great Commission

“When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””
‭‭{Matthew‬ ‭28:17-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬}

There were many different responses to Jesus’ resurrection in the following days and weeks. Some believed and some doubted. Some were fearful and some were joyful. Many experienced all of these responses. We, like them, have a choice to make about what our response is to this news, and each response directs the way we spend the rest of our lives. To those who chose worship and belief, Jesus left this final command to be followed. If this is truly where our hearts lie, we must do what He asks as well {John 14:15}.

For those who believe that Jesus, the Son of God, died for there sins, defeated death, and rose from the grave offering hope and eternal salvation for those that put their faith in Him, our mission is laid out plainly for us. No matter what we do or where we are our purpose is to make disciples: to teach and baptize, to share hope and encourage, to rebuke and correct, all in the power and love of God. This is what Jesus has asked us to do, and He has promised He will be with us, so courageously go in faith and love.
